Adultos fazem o que precisa ser feito

Adults do what needs to be done

I heard a phrase from my nutritionist that changed my way of thinking:

Adults do what needs to be done, not just what they like to do.

And I started applying this in practice.

I am drinking less alcohol and much more water; I always preferred red meat and never made room for fish. Today, I eat fish.

I didn't eat chicken, out of sheer fussiness; today I eat chicken.

Because life won't always be the way I like it.

Sometimes, we need to step outside our preferences and do what is best for us.

And this goes far beyond nutrition. It applies to exercise, commitments, projects, and all other areas of life.

Discipline is doing what needs to be done, even when you don't feel like it.

Spiritually, this responsibility gains even more meaning. Our body is a temple, a sacred space. We must take care of our body, mind, and spirit.

The Bible says:

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?”

1 Corinthians 6:19

We don't need to like everything, we need to understand that we are responsible for the choices we make; in the end, taking care of yourself is also about this:

Stopping living only according to your own will and starting to act in accordance with what really matters.
