Where to travel before 2026 ends?

Trending destinations that are worth visiting in the final months of the year.

There is still time to plan an unforgettable trip in 2026! With the arrival of spring in the Southern Hemisphere and autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, October, November, and December offer completely different experiences around the world. For this selection, we have gathered destinations that have been featured in publications such as Forbes, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and Vogue, also taking into account the best time to enjoy each place.

1. Kyoto, Japan

November is one of the most special months to visit Kyoto. The city takes on the colors of autumn, with shades of red, orange, and gold spread across temples, gardens, and parks. It is a particularly interesting time for those who enjoy photography, architecture, history, and Japanese culture.

In 2026, the autumn foliage season is expected to arrive a little later in some regions of Japan. The current forecast indicates that Kyoto may reach peak color around December 11, although dates can vary according to the weather. This means that those traveling in late November or early December can still find stunning autumn landscapes.

2. Marrakech, Morocco

For those looking for a cultural experience, Marrakech combines traditional markets, architecture, gastronomy, and an atmosphere completely different from that found in large European cities. Walking through the Medina, exploring the souks, visiting palaces and gardens, and trying Moroccan cuisine are all part of the experience.

November is especially interesting for exploring the city on foot, as temperatures are more pleasant than during the hotter months. It is a trip that combines culture, history, and gastronomy, plus the possibility of including experiences such as a desert excursion or a few days in other regions of Morocco.

3. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is a great option for those seeking nature, culture, and a different experience at the end of the year. November marks the beginning of a drier and more pleasant season in the region, making it more comfortable to explore temples, markets, mountains, and natural areas.

But there is a special reason to consider a trip during this period: the traditional lantern festivals. In 2026, events related to Yi Peng and Loy Krathong take place on November 24 and 25, when the city is transformed by lanterns, celebrations, and traditional ceremonies.

4. Miami, United States

For those who prefer sun, beach, and an intense cultural schedule, Miami remains an interesting option for the final months of the year. November offers pleasant temperatures and lower humidity, while December brings an especially busy calendar.

One of the major events is Art Basel Miami Beach, from December 4 to 6, 2026, accompanied by a much broader schedule during Miami Art Week. Galleries, museums, exhibitions, restaurants, and events occupy different areas of the city during this period.

Miami also allows you to combine different styles of travel: beach days in South Beach, dining in various neighborhoods, art in Wynwood and the Design District, as well as tours of areas like Little Havana and Coconut Grove.

5. Malta

If you still want to enjoy a bit of the Mediterranean before the arrival of the European winter, Malta can be a good choice for October. The country combines beaches, crystal-clear waters, historic cities, architecture, and small villages scattered throughout the archipelago.

October usually features pleasant temperatures, and the sea can still be warm enough for swimming, especially early in the month. At the same time, the weather is more comfortable for walking through the historic streets of Valletta, exploring ancient fortifications, and getting to know the local cuisine.

6. Seville, Spain

Seville is a great option for those who want to visit Spain without facing the intense summer heat. In December, temperatures are milder, making it more pleasant to walk around the city, visit monuments, sit in cafes, and explore its restaurants. However, it is always worth checking the weather forecast before traveling, as the weather can be unstable and include rainy periods.

Condé Nast Traveler itself highlighted Seville among the destinations for December 2026, especially for its gastronomy and the growth of its luxury hotel offerings. Between a visit to the Plaza de España, the Real Alcázar, and the Cathedral, it is worth setting aside time to simply enjoy the city's atmosphere and its cuisine.

7. Queenstown, New Zealand

While the Northern Hemisphere begins to enter winter, December marks the start of summer in New Zealand. Queenstown is known for its mountain landscapes, lakes, and an enormous variety of outdoor activities.

It is an especially interesting destination for those who enjoy adventure and nature, though it does not necessarily mean a radical trip. It is possible to combine hiking, boat trips, wineries, gastronomy, and moments of rest while taking in the region's scenery. The city was highlighted by Condé Nast Traveler among the destinations for December precisely because it offers this summer atmosphere in the Southern Hemisphere.

8. Madeira, Portugal

The Island of Madeira also deserves attention. In early 2026, Forbes highlighted Madeira as the #1 trending travel destination for 2026, based on data from the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards.

The island is especially interesting for those who prefer nature to large urban centers. Volcanic landscapes, hiking trails, mountains, natural pools, and the ocean are all part of the experience. It is also possible to go whale watching and explore different parts of the island, which has a relatively mild climate year-round.

Closing 2026 with a great trip

The final months of the year offer very different possibilities: the colorful autumn of Japan, the culture of Marrakech, the festivals of Chiang Mai, the beaches and art of Miami, the Mediterranean of Malta, the gastronomy of Seville, or the summer and nature of New Zealand and Madeira.

More than just choosing a trending destination, it is worth considering the type of experience you want to have and the time of year you will be traveling. After all, a trip can be even better when the destination and the season work in your favor.
