O que é, afinal, sofisticação dentro de uma casa?

What is, after all, sophistication within a home?

Between finishes, furniture, and lighting, perhaps we are leaving aside elements that reveal much more about who we are.

While editing some decor videos, I kept thinking about how often the words chic and sophisticated appear when we talk about interiors. But are we looking at sophistication from the right angle?

To me, it lies much more in a library, a bookshelf filled with books, a record player with its vinyls, a piano, or a collection built over the years.

These are not objects to wear, show off, or follow a trend with. They are elements that invite appreciation, spark curiosity, and reveal interests. They are objects that carry culture, history, and personality.

A home can have impeccable finishes, planned lighting, automation, and the most modern features. All of that has its value. But do these elements, by themselves, make an environment sophisticated?

Is living well just about having a beautiful and updated home, or is it also about creating a space that reflects who we are, what we know, and what we appreciate?

I wonder if, when planning our spaces, we are dedicating the same attention to culture, art, music, and reading that we dedicate to finishes, furniture, and lighting.

After all, between investing in another lighting feature and creating a space for books, music, or art, what really transforms a house into a place with identity?

Perhaps sophistication lies not only in what we choose to put inside our homes, but also in what we choose to cultivate within ourselves.

I wish you well in where and how you choose to live,

Danielle Parada Daros.
